GTIS HALF
FAQS

Q:

I registered for the race, but I can no longer attend. Can I get a refund or transfer my registration to someone else?

A:

Unfortunately, entry fees are non-refundable, non-deferrable and non-transferrable. No exceptions.

Q:

I purchased race insurance when I registered. How do I use the race insurance to get a refund?

A:

The steps for initiating a claim can be found here.

Q:

I am planning to walk the course, what start time should I sign up for?

A:

The course cutoff for all participants is 12 Noon. Please sign up for a start wave that provides you with adequate time to complete the course. Please note that the early waves will fill to capacity long before event day.

Q:

If I register and find that I need to change the start time, can I do that as long as there is space at a different time? Would there be any penalties for doing that?

A:

There are no fees/penalties to change your start time. If there is room in your preferred start group, you can make the change yourself through July 25th by logging into www.raceroster.com using email and password that you used during registration. From your personal dashboard/Home page, find GTIS under your recent registrations and click on "View Registration", then "Edit Registration". Then use the Start Wave dropdown to select your preferred time from the times available. Be sure to SAVE your changes!

*After July 25th, if you have an urgent request for a change to your start time, you can email michelle@halsports.net. We will do our best to accommodate if space is still available. Please reference GTIS Half and provide your name and your preferred start time in the email.

Q:

Why has the GTIS Half Marathon course changed in recent years?

A:

The course had to be altered because both Idaho Springs and Georgetown have had significant development over the last few years, including the sale of the former football fields (where the post-event festival was held). This has required applicable municipalities and the event to rework a course that meets all municipalities' requirements for safety. This new course now takes you around Georgetown Lake and by Bridal Falls, one of the most iconic areas of Idaho Springs.

Q:

Is the GTIS Half Marathon course USATF certified?

A:

Due to the required changes in both Idaho Springs and Georgetown with the courses, the event is not a USATF-certified course for this year.  We hope to again be able to re-certify once both towns are comfortable with keeping the courses the same.

Q:

I am looking for hotel or lodging options for the race - do you have any suggestions?

A:

You might find some ideas here: https://visitclearcreek.com/lodging/

Q:

I saw that the race is going 100% cupless this year. How does this work?

A:

Thanks for asking - the water bottles have pump "faucets" so runners can fill up their cups at the water stations. It is very sanitary, they were required after COVID.

Q:

Are there any age limits or restrictions for participants?

A:

You must be at least 12 years old to participate in the half marathon.

Q:

Are strollers, dogs, skateboards, or in-line skates allowed?

A:

Strollers are allowed, please start after the last wave of runners. Unfortunately, dogs and any type of skates or skateboards are not allowed.

Q:

Where do I pick up my packet?

A:

INFO TO COME

Q:

Can my friend/spouse/anyone pick up my packet for me?

A:

Yes, as long as they have your registration confirmation.
